Trump Calls Families of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to meet with the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
