Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first Fall Classic since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Down by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.

"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
