The former Liverpool manager says coming back to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage another team within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences repeatedly each week or constant media duties each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits in the building. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for his teammates also. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Handling this individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
