The 41-year-old, who recently made history by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup top-three result. Impressive Performance in the French Alps Competing at the French Alps resort for the first time in eight years, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing the runner-up spot. "I was slightly lacking the right line on the initial jump," Vonn remarked. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my skiing today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was too conservative." This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday. A Remarkable Comeback from Injury Vonn ended her career in February 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in December 2024 following a major knee surgery. With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's performances are highly promising. She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is strongly positioned to compete for the United States at the 2026 Games. "When we get to Cortina, I will be where I need to be," the athlete confirmed. Aiming for Further Glory Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a professional journey spanning 20 years. She currently holds a substantial lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table. This season's World Cup circuit includes a nine more events scheduled before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
