A Pig's Tale: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
